Describing a Cool City

In the past the life was better than now, green land was spread wider in most part of the earth, and the emission of toxic gases that have a strong effect on the atmosphere was few. However, with started of the industrial revolution in the twenty-first century and create the industrial countries that led to increased emission of gases as CO2 on the atmosphere and create many serious problems, which threatens all living organisms on Earth.

Yet this danger coming, the governments and every one must fights this phenomenon by finding suitable solutions to reduce these toxic emissions such as the establishment vital projects which have a role to reduce the percentage of emission and avoid our environment from pollution. In addition, one of this projection or solution called cool city. However, it has several areas or zones for example residential zone, business zones, public zone, sports zone and resort zone. In addition, in this city there is green lands and use materials that do not issue or emit toxic gases. For example, solar planets, big fans and dams or hydro electrical all of these materials will give us clean energy without any pollution. And also use transportation by electricity instead of oil for example, use trains or cars and moving through electricity. All this will lead to production of clean and cool air and also preserves our environment.

1- Zero Carbon: is way to save our life in the earth by using materials, which do not produce CO2.

2- Zero Waste: Things have a negative effect on the environment but we can be used again.

3- Sustainable Transport: When people use transportation most the time and that lead to produce CO2 and damage the environment. So we should reduce use this transportation.

4- Local and Sustainable Materials: When we use factories, which they produce, a large quantity of CO2 and this has a negative effect on the atmosphere and on people.

5- Local and sustainable food: We must change the way of making food in the factories even reduce these emissions and this help to create a clean environment.

6- Sustainable water: We must reduce consumption water and create modern methods to discover water and each one must be aware of the important of water in our life.

7- Natural Habitats and wildlife:Establishing protected areas to protect them and increase the green lands.

8- Culture and heritage: We must take care to heritage and culture by encouraging children to learn life in the past and what the materials people were uses.

9- Equity and fair trade: All people from all levels must have the same chances in their life and this will lead to spread love and peace among them.

10- Health and happiness: When the emission of toxic gases be low as CO2 and high income will be happy life and better health

Would you like to live in Masdar city? Why?

Certainly, everyone wants to live in Masdar city and it will be the ideal city to live.

WHY? because there is everything which has the benefit of the people and the environment. In this city, the people will change their lifestyles, which has the benefit of the environment where emission of toxic gases as CO2 and footprint will be less and this lead to protect the environment from destruction. In addition, we will see agriculture and materials that do not emit CO2 everywhere, this lead to air will be cold and cool, and people can walk without the feel heat or tired.

Which development do you think is the coolest (most interesting)?

I think the projection in Saadiyat Island will be the most interesting project in Abu Dhabi

This project is one of the most important projects that will be established in Abu m Dhabi because they will build and large building which have a wonderful design and they will built museum with beautiful Architecture. In addition, they will build also long and beautiful beaches. All that will lead to attract tourists and companies to invest in it, which help the economy to growth and increase money. I think this project a good step to reduce the high emission of toxic gases and global warming in the world.

This will lead to significant changes in the lives of people whom living there for example reducing emission toxic gases and carbon footprint. In addition, I wish everyone work hard to make Abu Dhabi free of pollution or to be cool city as soon as and that lead to people live in a safe and clean environment with healthy life.

Summarize Johann Haris opinion

Johann Haris is one of the greatest and best men because he seeks to avoid the environment from pollution and emission toxic gases. He thinks humans have important a role in the emission of harmful gases as CO2 that lead to change the climate through industrial activities and lead to destroy our life in the earth. Therefore, he fights against the rise of CO2, which is make global warming. He also seeks the governments to issue strict laws to reduce these emissions and he said governments should find some solutions for energy production and avoid our environments from pollution for example they should provide or use another material, which do not harm the environment. In addition, he believe every one must aware the danger from global warming so we must change our behavior but I think this step not enough and we will see the global warming increase if we don’t work by one hand or together. I totally a agree with him because he gave the government solutions that lead to reduce global it warming or even stopped it by change their lifestyle and use another materials as solar panels and dams. Charlotte North Carolina:

The government has changed the fuel of cars to a hybrid gas.

Washington DC:

Has changed their buses to natural gas which is less than the diesel fuel to improve air pollution and cut global warming pollution.

St Paul Minnesota:

Providing electricity by using a renewable resource as its primary fuel.

Houston – Texas:

The government has started to reduce emissions by using hybrid vehicles. By the year 2010 they will have no petrol cars. A hybrid vehicles are produce about 43 tones of carbon less than the average of other cars.

Seattle:

They have replaced old vehicles with a “ clean and Green fleet and have sett strict rules about CO2 emission. They have already reduced green house gases by 60 percent.

Fort Collins:

Fort Collins uses renewable energy wind to reduce global warming and has reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 472,000 tons.

Waverly Lowa:

Waverly Lowa municipality has used wind energy to reduce the emission of CO2 in the city. This method that helps provides local economic development.

Marion County Florida:

The government bought the Toyota Privs vehicles because it’s hybrid and useless oil.

My name is Sami and I am 23 years old, I am from the UAE; I live in a city outside the Abu Dhabi called new Al Bahia. It is a very nice and quiet place. I live with my family in a big house and I am still single. I study medical imaging in the college. I like my major because when I will work I will assist sick people and I will communicate with other people. I have many exiting and enjoyable things that I like to do them in my free time with my family or friends for example camping, football and swimming.

I have many goals that I want to achieve in the future. One of them is I hope to graduate with a high grades and I hope to complete my education abroad. In addition, I am planning to get a good job with a high salary and I hope also to become one of the faithful employees with my friends who study with me in the same class. Khalifa: Hi Sami how are you?

Sami : I’m fine what about you?

Khalifa: I’m good.
Sami : Do you know what the critical thinking is?

Khalifa: I know and I’ll explain to you as much as I can from what I know.

The critical thinking is some thing great that make people use their brain to think and produce a new thing and solution to our problem after understand the problem itself very well and think about it to solve it and think in the future what will happen, but not anyone can called he/she is a critical thinker.

Sami : Why?

Khalifa: because if you want to be a critical thinker there are several things or steps that should be in this person.

Sami : Can you tell me what these things or steps are?

Khalifa: yes, First of all critical thinker collect all things and listen well to all people to understand exactly what is the problem or what he is going to do and he proof about what he is doing to make it easy if there are any mistake he can solve it. Second, absolutely person thinks in a right way that makes most people to become convinced of these solutions and think mentally. Third, critical thinker thinks while he is interesting and enjoying but at the same time he takes it seriously. In addition, he should have a lot of information and good behavior with people by respect them and their information and work together. After that critical thinker examination and put it in order to what he/she did. Finally, evaluate the cause and get the result and assess.

Khalifa: in general approximately yes.

Sami : of course every one can be a critical thinker doesn’t matter if adult, old or child because anyone think all over the world can be a critical thinker and it is higher level of thinking.

Khalifa: can you give me an example?

Sami: yes, like the accidents in the UAE there are many people dead by accidents because the crazy drivers in the street. They are drive very fast and without attention.

Khalifa: okay what are the solutions now for this problem?

Sami : In my opinion, First parents should advice their sons about the dangers of driving speed. Second, the government should issue strike rules for whom driving fast. These rules include; licenses should be over 20, increase the fines to become too expensive so people will aware that fines will cost them too much money and make wide streets because there are a lot of cars.

Sami : So that means people should think in this way and know about critical thinking.

Khalifa: yes I agree with you because a lot of people don’t know about it.

The high emission of poisonous gases to the atmosphere is dangerous and alarming so the governments tried to find solutions to decrease the proportion of the emissions. One of these solutions builds a city and the amount of pollution low this city called cool city. In this city, our life style will change the transporting such as car, train will work by electricity or by solar energy, and they will use hydroelectric power. These changes will lead to a better life and more fun for people. However, most the countries but not all did not apply of this change and they do not any ideas about build cool city.

I am going to explain the important information that was in the movie. As you know, the life before two centuries ago was much better than now because carbon dioxide or some pollutants that effect the atmosphere were less. However, in the last 30 or 50 years, we can see the carbon dioxide is increasing an alarmingly and dangerously in the world and this has a very serious impact on human life and other organisms. This rise is cause by several factors including toxic gases emissions from factories and automobiles, ships and other industrial factors. This has led to a rise in temperature causes drying of agricultural land and the spread of desertification. In addition, the CO2 has a big effect on the layer of ozone in the earth.

About my reaction to the movie

This movie is great because before watching it I did not know the real of problems that emission from carbon dioxide from factories, cars and others. it is also contain a lot of benefited information about CO2 and who it will effect for our life and other organisms. It is horrible truth

Why is it called “An Inconvenient Truth”?

Because some people do not have the desire to change their lifestyle, which depends on driving cars, train and ships or they did not find the alternative solutions to the problem of emission gases from factories. Therefore, these problem lead to the pollution of the environment and life and we see this happing in front our eyes every day and we still do not do anything.

What should be done in Abu Dhabi to make people more aware of the situation?

Many people in the UAE and in the world are not aware about these problems. Therefore, we must make a double effort to reduce the emission. The government must issued a subject called the dangerous of carbon dioxide then distribute it to schools and colleges to teach the pupils or students and explain the main problems and danger of CO2 which effects life in the earth. I think this solution is very important to people to be aware of these problems because these students or pupils will grow up and become men, women, and they will play an important role to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide. Another solution make people aware of this situation give a prize from the government or companies for people who they play important role to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide this will encourage people and companies who reduce emission of carbon dioxide on it. In addition, build cities free from cars and factories which emission carbon dioxide and use hydropower the electricity generation. The government in the UAE has plans to build a city like this in the future in 2030.
